ACTOR INSPIRATION NEWSLETTER !
You are receiving this newsletter because you have either subscribed to it on my new website, ActorInspiration.com, read an article I wrote for BackStage West and contacted me, attended one of my workshops, or are a favorite actor or actress of mine who I thought might enjoy the inspiration!
My intention is to provide inspiration to actors on a journey that can sometimes feel like an emotional rollercoaster ride!
So, my question to you (and myself!) this month is:
HAVE YOU MADE PEACE WITH WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW? Have you celebrated your latest callback, audition or job, no matter the size? It’s so easy to get caught up in where you are not, and what the competition is doing, but really, your only competition is the internal monologue you have with yourself on a daily basis. So, when you start beating yourself up, try looking at how far you've come!
In fact, what if you said to yourself every day this month...
I AM PEACE WITH WHERE I AM
What would your experience be at the end of April?

Every month I let my intuition guide me as I write down my Focus of the Month. It is usually exactly the words I need to give my attention to when I find myself getting stuck. It somehow centers me and eventually leads to some inspired action. The Focus of April is...
BEGIN IT!
Sometimes when we declare big dreams we can get so overwhelmed by how far away it all seems, that we end up doing nothing, taking a nap, and feeling like it may never happen! I know this firsthand since I’ve been thinking and talking about creating this newsletter and website for months! When I refocused and released the need to know HOW everything would turn out, I was able to BEGIN with the first step, and trust that each step would reveal itself along the way. And that is exactly what happened!
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable ones and then starting on the first one.

I am joyfully creating all of my experiences. When I expect good things to happen, and focus on what brings me joy, I attract more joyful experiences into my life. I look to things, people and experiences that bring me joy. I find joy in this journey as I pursue my acting career.

GOOD ACTORS GET NOTICED!
My friend (and amazing actor) Lyle Knouse, decided to say yes to a role in a Broadway play in which his character would be on stage for only 4 minutes. Lyle had appeared on Broadway in the Tony Award-Winning Big River and other shows, but with the WGA strike upon us, he decided why not take the smaller part? Little did he know that one evening, casting director, Juliet Taylor would be in the audience, and think he might be right for her client's new movie. Her client happened to be Woody Allen! Lyle was asked to take a meeting with Mr. Allen, so he could get a sense of who Lyle really was in person. He walked out five minutes later and got offered the part! Later, he was told Woody Allen was expanding the role after meeting Lyle to now play Larry David's best friend!I I love this inspiring victory, especially in the middle of a strike! Anything is possible and Lyle is living proof! GO LYLE!
